Switching digital album products to the default product template

If you've used the "Publish with Audio Player" option to publish digital music in the past, follow the steps below

Does this apply to me?

There are two ways to publish a digital release in Single. This guide only applies if you used the Publish with Audio Player method for past releases.

What to do

Attach to Existing Products

You created the Shopify product yourself, then attached a Single release to it.

Skip this article. Your products are already on the correct template.

Publish with Audio Player

Single automatically created the Shopify product for you on our custom single.album template.

Keep reading. You need to switch these products over.

Quick check: In your Shopify admin, go to Products and filter by Product type β†’ Digital Album. If the theme template on the right side says single.album, it needs to be switched.

Why switch?

Previously, the single.album template handled your 30-second track previews. Going forward, those previews live on your default product template via the new Tracklist block.

Switching your products simplifies the publishing experience. Fans still get those 30-second previews and your album pages stay cohesive with the rest of your store's design.

How to switch your template

  1. In the Shopify admin, navigate to the Products tab

  2. Click on a digital album product

  3. Find the Theme template dropdown on the right side of the page

  4. Change single.album to Default product

  5. Click Save

Repeat for each "digital album" type product on the single.album template.

Will fans still see the tracklist after the switch?

Only if your default product template has the Tracklist app block on it. If you haven't added it yet, instructions here: Adding the Tracklist block to your product page.
