An author is the name and avatar shown on a post. Authors can be credited on posts without getting access to your Single account. This is useful when you have multiple contributors and want posts credited to the right person.
Authors aren't the same as users. If you want to give someone broader access to your account, add them as a new user instead, not as an author.
Where to find it
Go to Posts → Settings in Single's sidebar menu.
Add an author
In the Manage Authors section, click Add Author.
Upload an avatar image and enter the author's name.
Optionally, add the email they use to log in to your store. This verifies them — they get a badge next to their name and can post and comment from your store directly. See Verify the Artist in Your Community.
Choose whether to set this author as the default, used on posts unless you pick someone else.
Click Save.
Edit or archive an author
Edit. Find the author in the list and click Edit to update their avatar, name or email.
Archive. Click Archive to remove an author from the list. Posts already credited to them keep that credit. If the author was verified with an email, archiving also removes that person's access to your community.
Choose an author on a post
When you create or edit a post, use the Author field to pick from your list. Their name and avatar show on the post in the feed, in place of the default.
Common questions
What happens to posts when I archive an author?
Nothing changes on existing posts. They keep the author name and avatar they were published with.
Can an author log into my account?
No. Authors never get access to your Single account. An author verified with an email can post, comment and moderate on your store, but that's on the store side only. To grant account access, add the person as a new user instead.
Do I have to add an email?
No. Leave it blank and the author works the way it always has — a name and avatar you credit on posts. The email is only needed if you want that person posting from the store themselves.
