Report Shopify Sales to Kantar (Official Charts Company)

How to report digital and physical sales to Kantar, the data provider for OCC

Reporting Digital Releases

Digital releases powered by Single are automatically reported to Kantar. A digital sale counts once the fan redeems their download.

Reporting Physical Releases

Unlike digital sales, physical sales reporting to Kantar is not automatic and requires approval from the OCC.

The OCC approves the merchandiser or fulfillment company behind a store, not the store itself. Once a merchandiser is approved, every store it fulfills can report physical sales — let us know when a new store goes live and we'll enable it on our side. Approval mainly comes down to average weekly sales volume and a warehouse based in the UK, or in the EU for French reporting.

Because approval sits with the merchandiser, there's no route for an individual store to apply on its own. If you're an artist or a small label, you'll need to sell through a merchandiser that's already approved. This doesn't affect digital reporting.

You can fill out this form to see if you pre-qualify. Answer yes to everything and it will show you who to contact at the OCC.

  • OCC chart weeks span from Friday to Thursday.

  • Digital sales are reported automatically at 2 am BST for the previous day.

Competitions & Sweepstakes

The OCC restricts competitions tied to chart-eligible sales:

  • A competition included in or on the release itself (packaging, inserts, or digital content) makes that format chart-ineligible.

  • A retailer-run competition can't require a purchase to enter — a prominent free-entry route is required, and online entry must be no more than one click from the promotional page.

  • No competition incentive may be offered on a pre-order, digital or physical.

Special Promotions and Upsells

In regards to Upsells (powered by Single or otherwise) or other campaigns that provide discounts or incentives on products, chart eligibility must be reviewed and determined by OCC/Kantar beforehand.
