Before you start streaming, you’ll need to set up OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). That means downloading, installing, and adjusting it to your preferences. The software is free and more user-friendly today than ever. Here's what you'll need:

Download OBS from the official site. Then run a speed test to make sure you have an upload speed of at least 25 Mbps.

Click the "Settings" button at the bottom right of the OBS window, then go to the "Audio" tab on the left.

To make your sound clear and crisp, set the "Sample Rate" to "48 kHz" and the "Channels" to "Stereo".

In Single, open your livestream video and find the Live Broadcast section. It shows two values you'll need, each with a Copy button:

In OBS, go to Settings → Stream. Set "Service" to "Custom", paste the RTMP Server into "Server", and paste the Stream Key into "Stream Key".

The stream key is created as soon as you create the video, so you can set up OBS before the video is published. Keep your stream key private. Anyone who has it can broadcast to your event.

A "Scene" is like a stage for your stream, where you can add different elements (like your webcam, a video, an image, or sound) and switch between them during your stream. Every broadcast needs at least one Scene.

To create your first Scene, click the "+" button under the "Scenes" box at the bottom left of the screen and give it any name.

Tip: Use an image as its own scene. For example, have the main show as one scene and an event image as another.

Start the stream on the event image, then switch to the main scene. At the end, switch back to the image. This way nothing gets cut off and viewers get a smooth experience.

Once you have a Scene, you can add a "Source", which is an element in your Scene. Click the "+" button under the "Sources" box, select "Video Capture Device", name it "WEBCAM", and click "OK".

A "Properties" box will pop up where you can pick your webcam from the "Device" dropdown.

If you're using a Mac's built-in camera, choose "FaceTime HD Camera (built-in)". If you're using a different webcam, find it in the "Device" dropdown and click "OK".

Next, add an audio input. Click the "+" button under the "Sources" box, select "Audio Input Capture", name it "AUDIO INPUT", and click "OK".

Then pick the device you're using as your audio source. Your built-in microphone is one of the easiest ways to get audio into OBS.

Once it's selected, you can adjust the volume in the audio mixer at the bottom center of the OBS window:

Before showtime, click "Start Streaming" in OBS and open your video's soundcheck link from the Single dashboard. The soundcheck link shows the full player even before doors open and while the video is still a draft, so you can check picture, sound, and scene changes privately.

Note: If you want to stream to several platforms at once (for example, your Shopify store and Twitch), you can use a multistreaming service like Restream or StreamYard.
